Sugar Mountain

The mountain's name comes from people who thought the snow on the ground to look like grains of sugar. They were the first settlers here and the name stuck. Another reason for the name Sugar Mountain is because in 1900 a majority of the inhabitants worked in a sugar factory. An old tale said that one night in late January, the sugar in the factory was leaking out of the building and caused a layer of white grains that looked just like snow.
